Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is Stand Up Paddleboarding Hard?
A. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a recreational activity that anyone can participate in weather you are 6 years old 60 years old. It does require a little balance mixed with just a little bit of core strength. If you're worried about not being able to stand up or falling off the board we recommend that you give it a shot in an Inland Lake with calm water, such as Teal Lake in Negaunee, MI or Harlow Lake off from Co. Road 550. Not only are these locations easier to learn at, they are usually a lot warmer than Lake Superior too!
Q. Is Stand Up Paddleboarding Safe?
A. Stand up paddleboarding is a fun and safe activity for people of all ages, however anytime you participate in a sport there are always risks. We provide a life jacket which keeps up afloat if you fall off the board as well as a board leash to keep the board from floating away from you free with every rental. We also recommend that you bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated during your paddle!
Q. What If I sign up for a tour and its Windy/Rainy/Cold? Do I get a Refund?
A. Lets face it, we can't control the weather. If Marquette gets hit by a rogue July snow storm we will happily refund your money or set you up for another tour date. For issues like rain or high wind/wave refunds will be issued on a per case basis. If the SUP Brah tour guide decides it unsafe or may be unsafe to go out a store credit will be given.
Q. What Should I Bring for my Paddleboarding Excursion?
A. A Swim Suit, t-shirt, a bottle of water, Sunglasses with a Floaty, A hat, towel, and a good attitude!
